Hello...My name is Dr. Phillips!
I received undergraduate degrees from the University of Montevallo in both piano performance and elementary education. I later earned a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Samford University in 2008. For my dissertation at Samford University, I conducted an international study in Lebanon looking at Perceptions in Gender Differences between Male and Female Teachers and Administrators in Muslim Schools.
In 2010 I became a National Board Certified Teacher for Middle Childhood. I currently serve Greenwood as both a social studies teacher and a drama coach.
Before beginning my work with public schools in Alabama, I taught at the University of Changchun in Northern China, as well as served as an Education Consultant on the Pacific Islands of Guam, Palau, Saipan and Hawaii and in the Middle Eastern Countries of Jordan and Lebanon.
I have also served on the Executive Board for the Alabama Federation’s Council for Exceptional Children, the Executive Board for the Jefferson County Education Association, and held membership on the Council for Leadership in Alabama Schools, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, and the Mu-Mu Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi.
